What Does CCAN DO?

- Our mission is to increase the awareness of Carcinoid Cancer and Neuroendocrine Tumors ( NETS) . Our hope is to help save lives!

- We respond to phone and internet inquiries from people who are referred to us from around the country and the world. We also field requests resulting from our public awareness activities.

- CCAN distributes literature about Carcinoid Cancer / NETS through many channels.

- We distribute desktop rulers to doctors’ offices. The front says ‘CARCINOID- Don’t RULE IT OUT! The back lists symptoms of carcinoid cancer.

- CCAN organizes seminars by carcinoid experts on a regional and national basis.Since 2004 CCAN has brought several of the leading CarcinoidCancer/NETS experts to speak in LI NY. We also particapatied and been one of the sponsors since 2004 of the National Conferences held around the country.

- October 2008 we were excited to be one of the sponsor of the first international Confeerence in Toranto Canada.

- Sept 2009 CCAN with Ochsner Medical Center-Kenner will work together to produce the 2009 National Carcinoid/ NET Conference in New Orleans, LA.

- CCAN has had exhibits and booths at medical conferences such as the ASCO 2006, 2007, 2008,2009. ASCO GI 2009 The Digestive Diesease week 2007, 2008 Interventional Radiology Conference, 2008. North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society 2008. 2009 American Associatio of Endocrine Surgeon, and street fairs across the country.

- 2007 and 2008 CCAN presented six regional confereces across the country And four Telephone - Web conferences.

- Fundraising activities like our annual Celebration of Life Gala, Stride for Stripes Zebra Walk, and golf outings.

- We contribute to medical research groups and to other carcinoid organizations- like The Carcinoid Cancer Foundation, the 5HTP PET scan project at New York Presbyterian Hospital in NYC, our sponsorship of the Hurricane Katrina LSU Neuroendocrine Lab Replacement Fundraising Drive , The Feinstein Institue of Medical Research for their Pet Scan project, and The Doctors Cancer Foundation.

- We distribute premium items, like stuffed zebras, zebra striped carcinoid cancer awareness bracelets, lapel pins, calendars, car magnets , and yes Zebra band aides. and tote bags

 We have given out and sold 100,000 bracelets so far.

These activities will continue until carcinoid cancer is CURED!
